Tiny blisters on roof

I would be willing to come to a settlement with MB and put up with this problem (payable 1 day after warranty expiry) it must be a 15-20k job to complete inc admin/survey/materials/labour/loan car/transport of roof etc. I would accept 10k and live with it, who should I write to with this proposal ? Any ideas/comments and I will let you know how I go on
I took my roof problem to MB in Germany, this speeded things up , l had a telephone call from MB to check that it was sorted there number was
+31 20 721 97 22 , they spoke good English , so l would give them a ring .

In truth I'm not sure i want a replacement.
Its a good fit, water tight and has always worked. I dread to think what i could end up with
My only worry is any resale problems

It’s a pity you will sell , l think MB service / customer relations is very poor , my wife has a Honda and there customer service relations is exceptional, l purchased new tyres on line and the Honda garage fitted them at time of a service for only £10 each , saved a packet . With the MB once out of warranty take to a non franchise for servicing etc
I have had a v-class for 16 years and tried several specialists for servicing in the first few years - ended up going back to MB I have no complaints about MB customer service, their quality of work or my relationship with staff. It’s a niece vehicle and it’s always been in a no-mans-land between car and commercial dealerships, the coming of the MP has forced lots of car dealerships to deal with vehicles they previously tried to direct towards the commercial workshops.

Just got mine back, we have had continuous rain since I picked it up. Checked today and no sign or water ingress. I haven’t had much of a chance to check the work out because of the rain but my initial impression is good.. in fact I think the finish on the new roof is much better than the original. Time will tell but they had the car for three days, early quotes were for two weeks - I did ask for a car when they decided to move the repair to Poole, never had a loan car before and part of me is suspicious that 2 weeks without a loan car became three days with. but the initial quote was in July 2019 so the dealer must have completed several MP roof replacements and have this process finely tuned by now.

Got mine done now but lost the Westfalia sticker so now in stealth mode! I must admit, I would have rather have taken a settlement figure on it in hindsight...

Which dealership was that ?
I took mine into my local dealer for the bed recall October 19
While I was there I pointed out the roof problem
The service manager didn’t know anything about it but accepted it wasn’t right and would get back to me

In the new year I had a new awning and fridge fitted, they severed the led strip light supply and fitted the blinds cassette backwards but that’s another story

My warranty expired half way through lockdown and I renewed it

A few weeks ago I called into the dealership and inquired where we were up to with the roof

You warranty has expired they replied , but I’ve extended it. Ah but the new warranty doesn’t cover it and we’ve no record of your complaint
But it was you I spoke to, we both stood in the rain looking at the bubbles in the paint. You told me you’d research it and get back to me

Prove it was the reply!!

So, yes I should have chased more and yes I’m too trusting but I’m utterly disgusted with the whole business

As soon as I’ve sorted it (litigation) and got the blinds refitted I’m selling
l also joined the VW California website , there are also several VW owners not happy with the dealerships, and niggling problems ,so we are not alone

When I had mine done, the dealer got me a new Westfalia sticker. I didn't like it stuck on the left side, so I stuck it in the middle.

Our roof was replaced through MB Dartford, it took a couple of weeks due to new roof rails taking longer to be delivered than they had anticipated. Throughout the process we were kept fully informed by Daniel Quilter and we had an E 350 as a loan car.
MP was returned to us fully valeted with Westfalia sticker attached! If anything I would say roof looks better than the original.
Safe to say we're very happy with the service we received.

The roof on my MP was replaced last week. The claim and all the arrangements had been made before I bought it and I was not told. So it was a surprise when I was contacted to say they were ready to do the job.... ! What job?! - Although the Mercedes dealer was in Southampton and was unaware the vehicle had changed hands and ended up in Leicestershire they brought me a loan car, took the MP, replaced the roof and brought it back 7 days later despite the lockdown. I have to say that the people at Marshall Mercedes in Southampton were excellent to deal with. Pity they’re too far away for me to use generally. The new roof looks good - (and still has the Westfalia logo) but I confess I never noticed the problem on the original roof. I’m a bit baffled as to how this issue ever came to light; tiny blisters on a roof most people need to be on a stepladder to see?! Maybe there are some very tall and eagle-eyed MP owners!!

The blisters on my roof were not on the top, but down the sides. They were very obvious.

Just to keep you all informed my van goes in tomorrow as ABS warning lights come on when camping with no key in the ignition , however just seen my roof is now developing blisters again ,this is my second replacement roof. So MB has still not got it sorted ,
Warranty runs out in December so will raise it with dealer tomorrow.

Ohh that’s interesting, ours did that a couple of times in the past.. it even sounds a audible alarm a ding not unlike the seatbelt warning. I think I was unloading it on both occasions so just put it down to some sort of confusion in the system. It was parked, handbrake on but I cannot be sure where the key was... It was fine when we drove off, the light cleared and everything worked as Norman. please let me know how you get on that the ABS. Sorry to hear about the roof... how long ago did you have the first repair done? Ours was completed a few weeks ago and we have had wet and mild weather since, I think we need some frosts for the blisters to really show.

Thank you for contacting Mercedes-Benz Customer Service regarding the issues you have experienced with your vehicle.

Following on from your email, I have been in contact with Mercedes-Benz of Blackpool to raise your concerns directly. They have informed me that the Body shop has investigated these concerns and advised that this issue does not fall under your Extended Warranty.

I understand you state this was raised to Mercedes-Benz of Blackpool in October 2019 during the Manufacturer’s Warranty, therefore, I would advise that if you had further evidence of this to please forward this into us so we can look into this for you.

I appreciate this was not the answer you were looking for, however, should you have any further requirements please do not hesitate to contact me or any of my colleagues.

If you are unhappy with this final decision or feel this matter is unresolved, you can seek advice with an CTSI Certified Alternative Dispute Resolution provider. So, this is where I'm up to
I think any further dealings with Mercedes will be in writing or I'll record them.

I'm very disappointed because I really like the van but we feel let down

They updated the software and put a grey water sensor gauge on order , told me they took photos of roof and will get back to me

So it seems the roof was fine until the first frosts , MB has not sorted the problem of blistering yet .
