hi there. If it’s the standard MB 4 bike rack mounted on the tailgate hinges / tailgate door rim then MB says you should not open the tailgate with the bikes on as it’s way too heavy. I very much agree with this. There are a feW posts buried in here historically on bike racks and one on the tailgate dipping with the rack. the Only way to open the boot with bikes attached is a dipping tow bar mount but the tolerances are v fine.
