Just ordered a MP from MB Croydon, delivery not until March 2021 all going well. ordered a 220D AMG Line with Towing Pack, Upgraded Audio, Side Awining, 360 camera. Trying to get All Season tyres fitted rather than the UK Summer tyres to mitigate rear wheel drive a little. Any advice, recommendations or insights welcomed and any other bits I should be looking to buy. Went for the Arco polo after looking at Californias, Westfalia Jules Verne, just thought it offered a great package. Have previously owned a Burstner Motorhome but a as only two of us travelling went for a smaller more useable camper.

I’ve got a horizon v300 coming in March- they told me that upgraded audio was a brochure error and not available for me.... that may just be Horizon though.....

I’ve gone for the 360, tow pack, driver assistance and the awning.... I’m wavering on the awning though.... worried about travel noise, but not sure if it’s a real concern!

it is indeed a long wait!!!

I kept thinking about going for the 300D but the decided not to as the Burstner we had was a little quick and I didn't hold back and spent a fortune on replacement wing mirrors... we've gone for the full MP experience hence the radio upgrade looked at horizon and using Sliding pod kitchen and retro fitting other bits and bobs but the offer we got from NB was so good we decided to go for the full camper package. Also looks like it gets registered as a Camper so the RFL is 270 with no first reg fee of £1850!!

Interesting about being registered as a camper! Have been ruing RFL costs- assume it’s not possible to have the horizon registered as a camper:(

it’s annoying how they have stripped a few options off the horizon (can’t have upgraded audio, can’t have tan interior, and I like the wood floor!).... fundamentally I won’t use the kitchen enough and the two doors and more seats is more useful to me... still love the look of the full fat MP though!
Cheers

I can see where you are coming from and I agree.
My ideal MP would be 4WD , with the comfy double rear seat retained but with kitchen andcupboards stripped so that you could get a paddle board or skis down the side. (something like a VW Beach)

A positive side for the wait is you should be getting Mercedes MBux although you will have to avoid saying the “M” word when driving! if you don’t want to be pestered with “How may I help you”

PS Unless they have changed things you the V5C will have it down as an MPV.

Hello guys, really interested to know what sort of deal you got? I'm seriously considering vs a VW. Also what colour exterior and interior did you opt for? And do you know what colour the plastics are for the black interior, are they still cream or an off white colour as appears in the brochure? I'm not keen on the cream looking canvas of the roof. I wondered if this is still the same on the 2021 model? The new grey blackout canvas on the VW is very appealing.

Thanks for your help.

you have to manage the V5C process same for the Cali it was a Cali dealer who tipped me off on this. The DVLA auto system has not been updated to show the March budget change so has to be done manually if the system not updated by next year. mB have confirmed they can register it as a Camper

Can I join the spring delivery club. Ordered a horizon about a month ago, mental discounts at the moment.
I’ve got 2 kids with a 3rd on the way hence the horizon. I went for pretty much the same options 360, tow, amg, awning, CarPlay. Went for new as really fancy the mbux, don’t think I could live without CarPlay these days

MB have now confirmed that from 1 Sept 2020 the MP is a Camper van as it has kitchen etc. The MB system being updated to reflect that Type Approval is complete and that Firts registration is now £270 rather than £1850

The update VED is reflected in the new online brochure as well and only applies to the MP, NOT the horizon model as that doesn’t have the kitchen facilities I assume. At least that’s what the pdf shows

Congrats on the purchase. We are going to order an MP next week - looking for a good dealer / deal - who have you used and are you happy with the service and knowledge thus far - hope you don’t mind me asking....

Used carwow and got the best quote from Mercedes Watford. I think the MBRG (Mercedes owned retail
Group) are offering the best deal and as such you should receive an offer from them no matter where in the country you are based. I can’t say about service except to say it’s all gone a bit quiet since they had our deposit! But I do think being September they’re exceptionally busy. Dealing with Robin.

Also used CarWow and MB retail group. We used a post code near a MB Retail group dealer as franchises dealers offer much lower discounts

Thanks both. Appreciated.
FWIW I’ve had zero response from carwow and waiting for a response from drive the deal....

When you say zero response what do you mean? You should be sent offers from carwow but you have to then connect with the dealer. Carwow don’t give your details to the dealer as this is part of the experience - giving you control of who you connect with. If you have messaged a dealer and heard nothing that’s a different story...

I got a ‘oops that’s embarrassing - we have not offers yet’ message and still there are none in my profile...

I will chase everything on Monday and see whats what... it could be a supply and demand thing.

Ahhhh, that’s interesting. Dealers have to subscribe to carwow, and provide the discount they are prepared to offer. Carwow then uses an algorithm to provide quotes. It may be that MBRG have pulled their offers on the vehicle or there’s a glitch somewhere. I have seen the V class offer reduce from £9,900 or something similar in Aug to £5000 in Sept. Unusual as their offers normally run quarter to quarter. It’s made me worry as I signed the order 31/8 but paid the deposit 1/9

If you signed the order that’s what you’ve contracted against. They shouldn’t be able increase the price except for BREXIT

Interesting about MB now registering the Marco Polo as a camper but also is the first reg fee and ongoing additional fee.
It may have been covered on another thread but if existing vehicles are re-registered with DVLA as campers (a relatively simple process) do they then become exempt for the additional excise charge which is ongoing for 5 years?
I was ambivalent about changing the classification because it made little difference to insurance and the dealer paid the first year’s registration anyway as part of the deal. However, if changing the classification results is a reduction in VED for the next four years, a bit of form filling and a couple of photos might be worth the effort !

Hi to all those who are new buyers or like myself new wait-ers!
Curious about lead times... I've placed an order a couple of weeks ago and have already gone from being told June to June/July. Is everyone else experiencing similar delays and does anyone have any insights as to why sooooo long?!
Thanks!
