What to buy??

Hi Guys, we are a rtired couple from Wiltshire and were previously looking at the VW California however we were put off by the roof corrosion issues and also the shocking service from VW dealers. We are now 95% certain we will go for the Marco Polo as the dealers have actually shown interest in us, also the lead time from order to edelivery is just 4-6 weeks? (is this really true?)

There is still a real lack of people that have purchased a MP and would be interested to see how you are getting on with living with the van on a daily basis?

Many thanks

Neil and Sally

I'm also comparing both the VW Cali Ocean and the V250 AMG MP.
However, diesel issues, the mixed support of 4motion and DSG on the Cali , AdBlue, etc are a bit concerning.
Certain areas won't permit diesel vehicle entry in the future, and who knows what hybrid technologies these busses will select moving forward.
Residuals on the MP aren't known and I've yet to actually see one [although I'm still resident in Dubai, none here of course] so will have to wait until I come back to Blighty....
My VW Cali Ocean spec was working out at £74,000........... AMG MP was cheaper but the spoiler on the AMG can't be deselected and this inhibits the use of the bike rack !

I knew this subject wouldn't take long - VW seem to have dominated the CV market for so long they seem to have no or little focus on the customer service aspect - well at least here in the UK. Mercedes and VW would certainly benefit from specialist Marco Polo or California dedicated experts / dealers who can give advise and offer superior service with confidence. After all these vehicle aren't exactly cheap o_O

I agree it's about time they stopped treating these vehicles like builders van's and mor like prestige vehicles.

On the question of residuals, I did some analysis earlier this year based on all the Calis and Marco Polos on the second hand market in Spain at the time and there is no significant difference (The Marco Polo has been around for 18 years or so here so the residuals question is answerable, although it isn't clear whether it will transfer to the UK market.) I excluded all very high and very low mileage vans to get a better idea.

I have the MP V250 AMG and have owned it now for 6 months and have traveled around Europe and it is my only vehicle and is used as my daily run around.
I really love it and it has been so usefull in many ways.

A bike rack is available for the mp with the spoiler
