Taking food to Spain

Hi all, we are about to take the Portsmouth ferry to Bilbao for a touring holiday across Spain in our M-P. Does anyone know of vehicles are being checked for taking foodstuffs into Spain from UK (bread, wine, cheese...) ?

thanks

We have traveled twice on Eurotunnel since restrictions were eased and weren’t checked at all.
Having said that all the things you mentioned are readily available in Spain so is it worth the risk of a fine. It’s their country so their rules.

Thank you. you are right of course, however we don't really want to go shopping first thing after disembarking. We prefer to get on the road. Undoubtedly we will be buying the odd bottle of wine whilst we are there!

We simply set the satnav on disembarking for our destination.
Once under way we cancel the route guidance and use POI to search for nearby supermarkets. It gives a long list to choose from. We normally pick an Aldi or Lidl that’s showing as a couple of miles away so we are confident it won’t be far off of our route.
Always works well for us and doesn’t add much time to the journey.

Hell yeah nothing better than finding a local supermarket or shop to stock up on sausages, cheese and wine.. or whatever we find.. very much kicks off our holiday and every time we do this we discover new amazing things. If I was you I would just open the boot at Portsmouth and sling all that stuff in the harbour. . Stick to smuggling Cannabis and Marmite
