Side wind-out canopy

I'm told you can get this crank handle operated side canopy motorised, can anyone recommend somewhere/one to do this?

No it isn't, and neither is it good for my knuckle or the nearby bodywork..a motor rescues this Mercedes oversight.

Problem I see is that the legs still need to be manually put down at a suitable distance from the van to take the pressure/ weight off of the awnings joints and arms.

Perhaps there are fully automated options out there though but probably cost a lot and tbh given issues others have had with motors on seats, motors on roofs I’d rather have it as a wind out manual option, but that’s just me.

After many deployments of the awning I've hit the body and slightly marked it once, can't remember the knuckles though! I just take my time and remove the handle when taking the legs out or repositioning them.

I was amazed to find that the feet of the Thule awning legs actually slide into a small slot in the awning fascia.

I found this only after two years of ownership, putting up with some amount of rattling and several near misses with the paintwork! :))
