Hi Everyone,
One of the rear springs on my 2017 MP has broken off at the bottom (last coil and a bit), and I'm trying to source replacements. Mercedes tell me that it's on a long back order (none in the UK or Germany), and that the part number is A447 324 07 00 .. I asked them for any details on the length or wire diameter and they couldn't provide any details other than it was a one green stipe spring. They also couldn't tell me if the part number was shared across other models of V-Class, Vito etc.
I've tried searching online for it, and it doesn't seem to be very commonly listed, or available compared to springs I've replaced on other cars. Has anyone replaced the rear springs with a non-OEM spring, and if so any details on part number or where you bought it would be greatly appreciated!
Many Thanks,
Mat.

Hi there. Sorry I'm late coming into this discussion. I'm not sure my response is what you're after, but hope it helps. In short, I changed the springs on my 2023 MP V300 AMG Line, as I tow a heavy caravan with it and the backend of the MP was really low when towing. The springs I used were from MAD Suspension (details below) and Trevor from MAD Suspension was absolutely outstanding. His knowledge of what is and isn't appropriate was far beyond anything I have experienced elsewhere. Below I have pasted the details from my email exchange with Trevor, as well as a 'before' and 'after' photo of the MP to demonstrate the difference. As I say, I hope it's of help you or one of our community out there:
Thank you for your enquiry regarding MAD Suspension to suit your 2023 Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo conversion.
Based on our telephone conversation, I believe the heavy-duty kit would most suit your application, this is part number HV-098088 and costs £312.61 including carriage and VAT. For clarification, the vehicle tested here was a Vito van (W447), the V-Class (also W447) has the same chassis architecture and uses the same MAD replacement spring kits.
The kit consists of a pair of replacement upgraded rear springs, designed to support the rear of the vehicle when fully laden. They will require a minimum load of 150kg on the rear axle. That is based on the empty car version, so I would imagine that the conversion itself weighs more than 150kg, add water etc and it will be much more, leading to the vehicle sitting very low and possibly running on the bump stops making for an uncomfortable ride.
I have attached an axle performance graph as promised, the measurements on the ‘x’ axis along the bottom are taken from the centre of the hub to the underside of the wheel arch. The ‘y’ vertical, axis is the axle weight going from unladen to over 2 tonnes. As more axle weight is added, so the dimension measured to the wheel arch diminishes. The black line is the OE spring performance, please ignore the green line for a medium duty spring, it is the red line that represents the HD spring.
Vehicle empty axle weight of 1150kg
455mm 415mm
With HD springs fitted.
Empty axle weight of 1150kg
485mm 460mm
To help explain these figures, the Vito sits at 455mm when empty, measured from the centre of the hub to the wheel arch. With the MAD springs fitted and at an axle weight of 1150kg, it will sit at 460mm – 10mm higher than an empty Vito. These kits are designed to work with the standard dampers with no modifications to any part of the vehicle.
The 1500kg axle weight simulates a standard European test for performance and the top horizontal red line at 2250kg simulates driving over a hump at motorway speeds, which is an extra test figure that MAD measure on all their spring kits.
MAD in Holland are a Van Partner to Mercedes in Germany and the whole of Europe. Again, I have attached the Certificate for reference. This means the MAD suspension kits for the range of Mercedes vans meets their quality and production standards and as they all go through the same procedures, indirectly this can be applied to cars as well, including the V-Class. They have similar relationships with Renault and VW and make these types of spring kits for all vans, plus pick ups and cars. Our website has a bias towards the caravanner as cars do suffer with the heavy nose weight on caravans.
When you wish to order your kit, you can do so over the phone on 01386 882997 or via the website, we have one kit on the shelf currently which we can put by and send out at a later date if you want to order it. Because of the time of year we order stock in as and when required, so if that kit sells, we will order another one in for you which will take about 7/10 days to arrive.
Enjoy your holiday and we hope to hear from you soon.
Regards.
