Oil level too high and chugging

I’m having an issue with my 2019 Marco Polo (V220d) and wondered if anyone has experienced something similar. I’m getting quite noticeable chugging, particularly at idle, along with a warning that the engine oil is too high.

My Mercedes garage suspected the fuel pump, so I’ve had that replaced but the problem is still there (albeit intermittently). Unfortunately, that’s knocked my confidence in the garage so I’m keen to see if anyone has experienced something similar. Or any ideas on the root cause or how to fix it? I'm keen to avoid the expense of going into the main dealer to diagnose and fix.

The 'oil level too high' is a common warning fault, mine (250d) does it on all longer runs, but has no effect on performance and the oil level is fine. There is a thread somewhere on here about it. My mates VW T6 has the same issue. Sound's like something else?

The oil level issue I had for months and it turned out to be a DPF regeneration issue. It culminated with the engine finally entering a limp mode where revs are restricted and gear changes limited because something is stopping regeneration.

This apparently was an 86% blocked DPF. I booked in with a local commercial garage for a diagnostic, oil change and regeneration and hey presto, all was sorted and no problems in the couple of months since. Mechanic said the old oil smelled of diesel and apparently diesel forces its way past the rings and into the sump, driving up the oil level but of course diluting the oil itself. Not good!

I was also told a faulty Nox sensor (on the exhaust) may be stopping regeneration and may need replacing, but so far so good…. I am actively trying to limit short journeys as this is what leads to all the problems stated.

I have had the same warning light on my same model. I just ignore the warning as it only ever happens for about a month after it's service si I know it has sufficient oil in it. #common problem.
