Hello,

Any recommendations for campervan insurance companies ? need to sort cover out and any pointers would be much appreciated :0)

The MP we're purchasing has vehicle type approval M1 so hoping it should be reasonably straightforward.

There is another thread about this on here somewhere JPG, not sure who the company was but I think SBD was the originator of the thread or at least had good input. Hope this helps

@JPG It would be useful for reference in the future if you posted your experience of insuring your MP.

Did you have problems getting insured as a Motor Caravan with Body Type MPV etc on the V5C?

Absolutely that’s the plan SBD... I’ll be putting all detailed info up on the forum soon when the dust settles in next couple of days. For now AXA via AIB brokers absolutely no issues as MPV whatsoever and all sorted in no time. This forum is so helpful :0)

So... insured our MP with AXA via AIB brokers who deal with campervans/motorhomes/boats and all sorts really. Had absolutely no issues whatsoever with the vehicle as MPV on V5 whatsoever and all sorted in no time. Filled in form online then someone rang back to discuss. The costs 2 adults MID 50's with no convictions/endorsements/ no claims not applicable/ 270 days per annum abroad/3.5 k vehicle extras on 7,000 miles PA.. £585.00 pretty happy really all things considered. Thanks for all assistance on the forum :0)

Great. I had good dealings with AIB and took insurance with them. More of the specialist are beginning to understand the Motor Caravan/MPV insurance situation. As you said @JPG many of then just quote a price and don't have a NCD.

Mercedes insurance were going to transfer my car insurance to the MP - it was expensive, but easy to do and they have been very helpful. Just about to pay over the phone when I was told that Mercedes do not insure the MP as it is a converted vehicle. Three hours later, phone calls etc this is the case. Mercedes will not insure one of their own vehicles - it has nothing to do with me personally. The dealership said that they had not heard of this before.....so I tried AIB as above who were absolutely fantastic and highly recommended. Lovely to talk on the phone too. Thank you for your help on here.

Also got good service from AIB - bit of a diamond geezer salesman :) but all good. So again, thanks from me to those that posted the tip on here.

Insured with Admiral last year but switched to LV this year following recommendations and reports they were best to deal with - and they were cheaper.

I just went on gocompare, meerkat & topcashback compare.
Found model under Mercedes v-class or v300. Then Marco Polo was there. 10,000 miles, £70k value, kept on drive. Like GT above, £450 through aviva with £40 cash back. Job done. I know it’s not a comprehensive ’campervan’ insurance but for the first year it’ll do. It’s Aviva Premium or Premier so £2k contents, courtesy car, legal, etc.. all inc.

FWIW I have a quote from comfort at around £350 - 8k miles, early 40s, plenty of no claims.

I'd never heard of them but I'm sure some of the more experienced members will have. Specialist camper/moho insurer. They wouldn't quote online but gave me a follow up call and were easy to deal with.
