Mercedes Warranty

My MP is 3 years old in May and so the warranty will expire.
I've had a quote from Mercedes to extend.

It's quite a lot of of money and I was wondering does it have to start immediately the existing expires?
Or, can I wait until lockdown finishes and it's back on the road

I think there are other companies out there that offer extended warranties.. maybe worth shopping around

I’m not worried about the cost of the merc warranty. I’m asking wether I can have a gap between the end of the factory warranty and me purchasing again

I’m not sure what would happen If you let it expire. May be tricky taking it up again at a later date

Yes that’s what I suspected. Finding it difficult to contact Mercedes at the moment

For the sake of a couple of months (hopefully) it’s probably not worth it.

Recently had the quote through for the Mercedes extended warranty. Seems pretty comprehensive and is tied in to the main dealers so you don’t have to pay anything upfront for any work. Usual T&C’s about servicing apply...

There were three payment options:
1 year upfront £499
2 years upfront £950
Rolling monthly £48pm

Just to follow up on my original question

I contacted the warranty co. and they agreed to save the quote.

We came out of lockdown sooner than I expected so I only paused the warranty for a month
When I accessed the website the quote had gone from 499 to 750!

Reminded them of their ‘promise’ and paid 499
