Is the bottom bed designed to go completely flat?

Slept in the mp for the 1st time, one night only, last weekend. Only had it 2 days, so not up to speed on everything. Can any member tell me if the bottom bed is designed to go completely flat. We had a 2inch drop down to the rear parcel shelf, is this normal? Realise we are going to need a topper, but all the pictures I’ve seen, with a topper on the beds, seem to depict the bed extremely flat. So, is this achievable? Thanks for any help!

Yes the bottom bed should go completely flat. Sounds like the seats are not reclined enough. Check the seat belt thing isn't catching on something. There is a (hidden in the seat base) button to reset the seat recline position.
