Fridge Issue!

Ciao from Northern Italy! Tis the season for getting out and enjoying life--with a little Prosecco and cold water for the dogs. About six month ago we replaced both batteries and everything worked fine. Went to turn the fridge on yesterday to keep some water chilled for our dogs. It would only go from Off to Max, no 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 modes! We all know #2 is best for liquids, anything higher will burst water, wine and beer bottles. Has anyone experienced this lack of settings control with the fridge temps? TIA

Several posts about this. It seems a common fault the sensor fails. I changed ours today. The fridge is a Dometic unit I bought the sensor directly from them. But also Merc can supply about same price. £75. I originally tried a cheap generic replacement sensor ( £5 eBay ) - didn’t work.

Thank you so much for that. Ours is a 2018 so I imagine it's time for little things to start failing. In the summer it was on 24/7, always water for the dogs and Prosecco, other white wines for us. Could you please share the part number and info on where it is and how to access it and swap it out? Any DIY videos available? Thanks again, Ken

Thanks again, I just hit the motherload of fridge info on this site!

Hi Ken. Sensor is about same price from Merc but they were quite dumb. So I called Dometic directly in UK. Fitting is relatively easy as long as you use the old sensor cable to pull the new one in from inside the fridge. I just then cut the cables and joined with simple two way WAGO connector. Might be worth checking it’s not just the fridge fuse.
So rear seats forward.
Remove/unscrew seat recliner coiled motor cable.
Unclip the plastic cover.
You’ll see the white sensor cable.
Prize the sensor out of the inside of the fridge wall.
Pull slack cable to allow old sensor cable

Cut the old sensor off and joined it to pull the new one and the same hole. I just striped the wires and wound them together securely, then fed new one in.
Pushed the sensor bulb into the side of the inside fridge.
Joined the cables with WAGO or small choc block.
This makes it easy if it fails again.
