Battery overheating

Hi All, I have a 2017 Marco Polo. It’s not been out much this year and the leisure battery hasn’t been holding a charge. I charged it overnight with the hook up and the following day whilst driving the Starter battery was very very hot. We stopped at a garage and a mechanic (campervan owner) suggested that it could be the inverter that was away. This splits the charge between starter and leisure battery. Has anyone had this before? Also is there a way to get the roof down when the leisure battery is really flat?

Can’t help with your battery although I would have thought the problem was the split charger

Beat me to it with the roof, haven't had to do this yet though, hope not to as well My battery lasted Fri to Sun the weekend before last off grid, but it lost the first few bars really quickly then stayed with 4 for ages then 3 when I was leaving the site. I did turn the fridge down to 2 on the Saturday just in case, all the food was fine but more importantly the beer was cold enough!

When I first exploried the vehicle I printed off the emergency procedure for closing the roof. I didn’t go so far as trying it but I located the emergency button while the roof was still empty.
This has reminded me that I should tape the Instruction to the side of the cupboard so that it can be readily found. Sods law says the roof will fail when most inconvenient and when the instructions are nowhere to be seen.

I suppose the solution to the battery not holding up to keep the fridge cold is to drink the beer faster !

Hi All, turns out there was a faulty battery cell in the starter battery. Had the battery replaced and all seems well Ordered solar panels too so will fit them and see how they help keep the beers cold

Glad you are sorted. After a new battery, solar panel and replacing the beer it will have been an expensive week.......
