Snow chains

Hi everyone looking for advice on the best snow chains for 2018 amg on 17’ oem alloys ( easy fit )

Hi Crispin,

I bought the “König Zip Transport 16mm” a month ago and had a chance to try them a few days later. We were in France, and within three days there was more than 60 cm of snow. The van was buried. Luckily, I put them on a day before the snow started. It took me about 10 minutes for both wheels.

What I think is important when talking about chains on MP is that they are as high as possible (not what it sounds like ). My chains are 16 mm thick, which is the height from the surface of the tire to the outermost point of the chain link, and I had a bit of a struggle to get out of 30 cm of fresh snow with about 20 cm of hard-packed snow beneath it, but I made it.

At the same time, I met a guy with a Škoda Kodiaq who tore his 9 mm chains to pieces just trying to go backwards from a clean parking spot onto a snowy road.

As for fitting, most chains have almost the same system — easy on, easy off.
