Roof actuators & scissor hinges

Could any one recommend a company / dealer that really understands the roof mechanism for the pop top roof (ideally in the Midlands though I will travel for expertise). We had an issue where one actuator lowered faster than the other making roof closure a little bit tricky. I suspect one of the actuator position sensors is inaccurate.

Hi Ragga. We had a similar problem with our roof about six months ago and took to Peterborough Mercedes who did resolve the problem by adjustment. Don’t know what the cost was as completed under extended warranty. Sarah in servicing is a good start.

Hi Ragga. The actuator failed on our pop top. Roof couldn’t be lowered! Eventually Mercedes of Taunton fixed it. They were good…but very expensive! If you find an independent company that can fix it would you post it on here please.

I tried Customhaus but their suggestion was to refer back to Mercedes.

I can highly recommend Mertrux in Derby. They are outstanding - could not recommend them more highly. Try contacting Jon Anderson in their excellent Service department on 01332 290290.

Thanks for the suggestion. I visited them today. Looks like just a bent rear scissor hinge was the only casualty. Roof raised & lowered fairly evenly.

Finding an independent proved difficult. I think the fact it is a stepper motor actuator with position control puts most independents off

Mertrux was just a little bit closer & Jon & his team seem to understand how the Marco Polo operates. Not quite out of the woods yet & will give update when the hinge is replaced.

I'm glad it was of help – Mertrux is the only Mercedes dealership I know that really understands the Marco Polo, and also gives the most incredibly personal service and real attention to detail. They are outstanding.
