Hinged lid for EHU & Water filler cap

Having a problem with the lid that covers the EHU & water filler cap.
Today I noticed that the left side hinge pin was protruding through the little hole on the lid and that the sharp end of the spring was sticking out, with the lid closed.
I managed to push the pin in again to prevent the lid coming off.
The lid is not operating easily but I can get it closed.
I assume that these springs are fixed to the hinge pins?
Could someone who has a smoothly operating lid take a few photos of the hinge mechanism so I can see exactly where the pins should be positioned.

Interesting to note that the pins going through the hinges are perfectly centred on yours.
I must keep a check on my pins, as they keep moving out of position..

Apply a little bit of loctite perhaps??

Yes, that’s probably the best solution but I need to replace one of the springs first.
Looks like a little bit of the left hand spring has sheared off.

To be honest, not sure what the spring even does. It's not like the flap springs open or springs shut.
Does it affect the opening or closing?

It just seems to hold the flap in the fully opened position, which is useful for topping up the water tank.
I always keep in down on top of the EHU cable when charging the battery but a piece of cord or tape could stop it flapping about in the wind if the springs weren’t there.

According to my local MB parts department, the pins and springs can’t be ordered separately. Ridiculous really, so the complete unit (50) was replaced uder warranty. The replacement part was even painted the same colour as the van.
