Another hello

Just registered after using the forum to help with our decision making. We pick up our 250 AMG in early February, exact date TBC, its new. The forum posts about the heater(s) were really important as the definitions used can confuse, so we have the night air heater as well as the heater using the coolant system.

Our close friends have all had and still have VW's (current fleet 2*T1, T2, T5, T6) and one Japanese Toyota import, so we have eventually joined them, and liked the MP since I saw it on fifth gear. So looking forward to delivery and using this forum.

Thanks both; the forums are very useful, i'm also a member of defender2.net as I have defender 90, and that forum has proved its worth many times. We're fortunate to have camped many times with our group of friends, who have had vans for 25 odd years, so they are well seasoned. You can tell we're all getting older as a couple of the T1,2's have been traded for newer models with a bit more comfort and ease of use.

Got an earlier date than expected, pick the MP up on Tuesday. We have taken a day off work so we can relax and enjoy the hand over.

Got the MP this week, coldest of the year so far! Had a lucky escape on the way home; the flap over the water/power intake was open and flapping, noticed after a couple of miles, stopped to close it and could hear a loud buzzing even though the engine was off. It turned out to be the tap in the on position calling for water but an empty tank, they guy cleaning it before collection must have left it in that position.

I've been away most of the week so today will be the first chance of having a good look around. Managed to get the app working (to a point) with some app support calls, not the best thing I have ever used. Managed to get the heating to work from the app, but not sure how the fuel/tyre pressure info is switched on.

Looks tidy Steve, I haven't got as far as the app yet, lucky spot re tap etc! Im finding bits each weekend mainly from here and with the van itself, just had solar panel and colour coded Thule top box fitted this week ready for GP's this year Silverstone and Monaco before that so hopefully all will work ok!

Thanks Jeff, going through insurance at the moment, on the 7 day merc cover at the moment. You have to be careful as direct line for example are confused over V class and marco polo, they were saying things like 'we don't cover any of the camper stuff'. I have a solid back up quote from a specialist vehicle insurer, so will cross check this today. Found from this forum safeguard and comfort, will give them a go. The forums are excellent, found out so much from the defender2.net over the years, looks like this will be the same but the MP owners are a bit thinner on the ground than defenders!

Where did you get your solar panel fitted? What sort of spec / charging options did you go for? It’s something I’m really interested in come spring.
