    Leaking Roof

Hi Ragga Are you saying that the original seal/gasket or grummet for the cable is in fact squirt of rubber based butyl sealant? How would the 710 rubber based sealant compare to the Sikaflex-221 Polyurethane Sealant? Could the 710 sealant be used to fill gaps in the original gray sealant under...

    Leaking Roof

Hello Paul. I installed a solar panel last year & chose to run the cable from the panel through the same hole as the cable to the elevating roof piston. I researched the sealant used in the original manufacture. It was Sikalastomer 710 rubber based butyl sealant. Available in different colours...

    Flat starter battery!

Hah, then we have to repair them I guess. ;-) I do not expect blisters under the poly carbonat panel since it is completely sealed. The solar panel itself can be removed if it fails and I can install a new one fairly easily. I expect it will not easily fail (happens sometimes due to overheating)...

    Flat starter battery!

You could consider to also charge the starter battery with the solar panel? I am using a charger (WRM15) that can charge both batteries. It will start to charge the starter battery below a certain treshold. So, even when you do not use the van for several weeks, the starter battery will always...

    Flat starter battery!

Had a lovely weekend away this weekend and was very happy that our new solar panel from solarcampersolutions kept the leisure battery topped up without a hookup whilst using fridge, lights etc. Imagine my disappointment, therefore, when we went to start the engine at the end of the weekend...

    Upcoming solar install

Hey guys. I'm in the process myself to do something similar on my 2006 Marco Polo. I am a little curious though - does anyone have experience with this kind of solution and the washing machines ???? Do you need to dismount the solar panel to wash your beautifull car ? Sunny greetings Jorgen

    Extra leisure battery

Yes I have the same one on my Cali’, it works really well with my 2 leisure batteries! The goal zero looks like a good solution except the space it takes up. I will look more into a similar lithium battery with the same size as the .org battery, then it doesn’t take more space in the car, but...

    Extra leisure battery

I had a solar panel fitted by SolarCamperSolutions in Taunton. I know Roger will ship abroad and provides full instructions. It’s really pretty straightforward. Check out the website. I previously had a solar panel on a Westfalia converted Fiat Ducato and it worked very well. In fact, I did...

    Solar Panel Wiring

Hi Paul If you search “solar panels” you should come up with a thread on “roof slot measurements” and a discussion on solar panels which identifies a company (Solar Camper Solutions) that supplies and installs. Good luck !

    Solar Panel Wiring

Hi, new to the forum and thoroughly enjoying the new Marco Polo. Thinking of fitting a solar panel. Has anyone fitted already? How easy is the cable run, has anyone done photos of install? Thanks

    Another hello

Where did you get your solar panel fitted? What sort of spec / charging options did you go for? It’s something I’m really interested in come spring.

    Another hello

Thanks Jeff, going through insurance at the moment, on the 7 day merc cover at the moment. You have to be careful as direct line for example are confused over V class and marco polo, they were saying things like 'we don't cover any of the camper stuff'. I have a solid back up quote from a...

...haven't got as far as the app yet, lucky spot re tap etc! Im finding bits each weekend mainly from here and with the van itself, just had solar panel and colour coded Thule top box fitted this week ready for GP's this year Silverstone and Monaco before that so hopefully all will work ok...

Space available to accommodate leisure battery

The existing set up lasts about 3 days including the fridge on constantly so I would think a solar panel would suffice, much cheaper and would not infringe the vehicle warranty, unless of course you're needs are very much more than normal usage.

    British F1 Grand Prix 2019

...allows you to arrive on Wednesday and that might be a little early for me so we’d likely travel down on Thursday, get there middle of the day and then leave Sunday evening, so I am tempted to see if the leisure battery will last for that long based on your post before I go the solar panel route.

    British F1 Grand Prix 2019

It did cross my mind but thought I might be pushing it a bit with the expenditure on the race tickets and camping. What kind of costs are you looking at?

Time to consider solar panels. I'm going for the flexible version with a Victron bluetooth controller.
