So near and yet so far!

My MP was expected to arrive at the dealership (Exeter) 25th May so delivered to me (Surrey) ~ 5 working days later ie NOW! Date had been unchanging from 25th May since mid-April. May 29th I called them as had heard nothing and delivery to them had pushed out to June 5th . Yesterday called again system showed it would arrive that day (3rd). This morning it’s moved out to 13th so prob won’t be with me til w/c 17th (assuming it isn’t delayed again) which is REALLY annoying as my nieces have a day off school Fri 14th and we’d planned a debut trip away.

I’d fully expected the original delivery estimate might get pushed out but naively didn’t expect last minute delays when the delivery date had been booked in and static for ages.

Am desperate to get my hands on it now!!

Anybody else had the same problem?

Any suggestions how to ward off my impatience?! (My upstairs cupboard is already overflowing with new goodies to fill it with lol)

Really frustrating for you.
I was going to say lean on the dealer but I see from your other posts that you ordered through Drive the Deal. Are you able to find out where the vehicle is and what exactly is causing the delay?
What are other forum member’s experiences of Drive the Deal delivery and handover ?

The MP is a complicated vehicle. If you are having the vehicle delivered you may not get a comprehensive handover, therefore read the online manual and this forum to become familiar with it.
This won’t help your impatience but you will have a better understanding of where things are and their operation. This is important if you end up going away before having a good play with everything. You won’t want a potentially minor problem to put a bad taste on what should (eventually!!) be an enjoyable experience in a great vehicle.
I hope it comes soon. What are you getting?

I did indeed - well remembered :)

Drive the Deal effectively are just a broker for the sale, everything else is as it usually would be dealing with the dealership directly (apart from I guess the dealership would be likely more local if arranged directly). The contact at the dealership has been helpful but the timing just keeps moving on their systems and there doesn’t seem to be great visibility to what’s going on. He said he’d send a query to the distribution hub, they take 24hrs to reply. Just curious really as to whether this has been the same for others or whether close to delivery info was more accurate. And generally impatient haha!!

There is the concern of lack of handover - the dealership have offered for me to collect in person if I’d prefer due to the complexity of the vehicle but it would be a 12hr round trip and from what I read most dealerships don’t have a clue anyway so I feel extensive forum research and playing on the driveway might be the better option!!

I’ve gone for the 250d Sport in Cavansite Blue, Silk Beige Leather, Light Yacht floor. Silver awning, both heaters, 360 cam, Command. Will be getting the rear bike carrier fitted locally after delivery. Hopefully it will be worth the wait!

Handover at the dealership with expert advice might be a bit over rated. I had to take a 3 hour train journey to the supply dealer, because they said the MP was complicated and they would have a specialist to go over with me. As it turned out I knew a lot more about the MP than the "specialist". He didn't even know where the gas tank should go !!! You will learn a lot more from this forum and fellow members.

The Mercedes production /delivery tracking system for customers orders seems poor and you are reliant on the dealer to tell you the vehicle’s status and whereabouts. With some other manufactures you are able to track online your new vehicle through stages of production and delivery.
You will see from this forum that dealer handover is variable. My handover was good, others have not been so lucky.
Like many here who have had to wait for a factory order, by the time it arrived I was familiar with the vehicle through the forum threads and the online manual but I made the dealer go through the process.
A 12 hour round trip is a long time, although about half would be driving home, becoming familiar with and enjoying your new purchase so it’s only 6 if you want to justify it to yourself.
Unless it’s coming on a transporter why should the delivery driver be enjoying your Marco Polo miles?
