Non slip carpets

I am a new member. Tried to have my VW caravelle converted to a camper van but gave up after trying a slide pod and electrics etc. Looked at the Grand California but it looked too much like a food delivery van and the ordinary California nowhere near as well made as my two previous ones. Looked at the Marco Polo at my local Mercedes dealer and my wife fell in love with it. Bought the previously owned one we looked at and ordered a new AMG styled Long which will no doubt arrive some time (not specified yet) next year. We are pleased with the pre owned one but prefer new. We have two smallish dogs who slip and slide when trying to occupy the rear seat. I have seen in the Shop that fitted mats are available, when in stock. It doesn't say if they are for the Long MP or one fits all, I just wondered if any members have tried the mats or come up with any alternative ideas (other than getting rid of the dogs). Thank you.

Hi and Welcome to the forum.
My understanding is that all MPs are based on the same wheelbase so the fitted carpets will fit all current MPs. I believe the only option to select is the number of seat rails as if you have specified extra seating it will have a third rail. By all means check with the shop.
I have the fitted carpet in mine, more to protect the floor from scratching by our own dog. Fits well, comfortable on your feet and vacuums well too. I'd certainly recommend

Thank you Steve. Nice of you to reply, much appreciated. Pete.

Hello and welcome, I just have a large mat that covers most of the floorspace. The floor does scratch easily though, gravel in the treads of shoes has done some damage to mine!

Thanks Steve. I guessed the floor would scratch so I will put in a mat pending the Shop renewing its stock.

Welcome along Pete :Welcome:
Thinking of the problem the other way up, what about those silicon pad dog "socks" that provide grip for dogs on slippy wooden flooring?

Hi, Pete,:Welcome:

Agree with the great comments above!

My mate has the fitted carpets and has a great big dog: not the bouncy type - very laid back - but does shed hair! He has invested in a Dyson permanently on charge in his garage, which works well for him...
I am enjoying the original floor at the mo....cool on feet in this weather. I do intend to carpet the floor later in the year though. Have the odd slip mats lying around in the interim, so not too fussed.

Look forward to getting your new vehicle! I received mine some weeks ago and it really is fantastic. Love cruising on the back roads now: 30 mph, then 40, back to 60, then suddenly 40.....they are hellish roads around where I live. Speed cameras etc everywhere, but driving the MP is so comfortable and with all the knobs and whistles as standard it is effortless. All the colour options are so stylish - I went for graphite grey, what colour did you pick?

Hi there.

Thanks for your reply. Unlike your mate our two are Poodles so no hair shedding to worry about but they are a bit bouncy. Yes I am looking forward to my new vehicle but it seems it will be a long wait. My new one will be a 300d AMG line Long auto, coloured Rock Crystal White with silk beige Lugano leather, driving assistance package (wife insisted. Lacks confidence). Plus black side awning. I am hoping by the time it arrives I will be able to get some camping gaz. Unable to get any for my current M.P. and am told I would likely have to wait months for new full bottle. Any members reading this have any ideas? I must admit the Marco Polo is a lovely vehicle to drive and very comfortable. Unfortunately I ordered a mattress topper for the one I have and I think that maybe the new one comes with one as standard. Is this the case?

Well, thanks again for the mail. Happy Camping.

Just read post about gas bottle, I recently got an empty gas bottle from Halfords, took it to Go Outdoors and they filled it.

That's helpful WillC because I think you can save I think it's a tenner doing it like that.

I went to Go Outdoors York (on May 9th, just checked diary!) I paid £40 for cylinder (GAZ 907) and £32 fill, bottle and gaz...

The black mattress for the "downstairs" bed is a trickier one in that you should be supplied with one in a new car: mine came with one, but if I were you I'd check your specification for the vehicle - look for the items listed under "special equipment".
N23Z Driving Assistance Pack,
YS1 Mattress for bottom bed .......£380
YS5 Black Side Awning
If you have a towing pack the reference is N24Z
360 degree camera is EZ6
Check if your spec on the vehicle offer letter says "Stock Car". I bought a "stock car" - it was on MB's list showing as available. However stock cars direct from factory tend to include the mattress. But getting back to that list "Your New Vehicle Order", they list it under the heading "special equipment" included in the overall price agreed. The key is in the paperwork in that you won't be getting "stuff" not included in your spec..

The fridge is fantastic. You don't need to prepare the fridge for milk, etc, as we have found out by error - i.e not putting fridge on before setting off. Now we put on the fridge AND load it seconds later. The fridge gets really cold very quickly, believe it or not - it does seem to get down to freezer temperature....Not tested any frozen ice creams yet, though!!

If I am coming across as a know-it-all, I'm really not. Just want to be helpful and share my recent experience..

Your right with the fridge, we use ours for bringing food back from specialist markets that are a bit of a distance away (as we are there anyway), just put it on before we go in and its cold when we load it.

Seconded
@Marc o Polo you don't come across as a know-it-all to me. Rather, someone with experience who is trying to help others. Keep it up. That's what makes this place a good one

Just another tip for those buying new:

1 Look at the date of your order; and keep this in mind.

2 Print/download the brochure in issue when you ordered the car. So if you ordered your car in April, say, the brochure current at that time was brochure date January 2021 (although bear in mind only published on 01st April 2021 so you may have relied on an earlier version of the brochure). There was a further reprint of the brochure May 2021 (states publication 30th April but I only saw it first time online mid May). This becomes significant when you actually receive your vehicle.. Subtle changes are made to the standard vehicle specification, hence this brochure changes regularly, by the looks of things, to keep up. To date I know of three brochures in circulation since January: at a cursory glance they all seem the same, but they are not....

3 Meticulously examine the relevant brochure against the car you receive, down to every detail - look at the pictures in the brochure and question: do you have this or that feature included?? Check out the exact spec in the text they use describing what you get with the AMG line, for instance. Check "Mercedes me" section of the brochure in particular: some things stated as standard were not in fact included (by way of a solution when I queried this I was asked to pay for the service and they'd reimburse - which they did).

4 The point I am making is that you need to check you actually get a number of things you expect to receive as standard as stated in a brochure. I checked and found that in the case of "Mercedes me" I had either not got the standard (as opposed to optional) features pertaining specifically to the Marco Polo. The dealer seemed unaware until it was pointed out, by reference to the brochure, following delivery.

I hope this helps - anybody wanting further detail, feel free to ask. As your vehicle is not due for some months there may be more iterations of the Marco Polo brochure - just make sure yours is dated (stated at the end of the brochure) to coincide with order date. Rest easy they are all available now online so best do it as soon as...

Update....
Just spotted there were two brochures "effective from January 2021 production". One published 19th January, 2021 and one 01st April 2021..I'm aware of these two but who knows there may be others....So obviously look for what's relevant for you...
