Manual pop-up roof lifting tricks

Wondering if anyone has any advice on how to lift the manual roof without straining your back... Any tricks? It is heavier than we thought. We have the optional glass sunroof not leaving much place to push. Will it become smoother, lighter over time or even heavier ...?

Have you opened the windows/door?

Yes ;-) always opened sliding door and unhooked the bed.

I doubt it will become lighter, from my experience as you get older it will become heavier
