Dreaded Auxiliary Heater!

This weekend was my first winter camper van experience, we were confident that we had the hot water auxiliary heater which would at least provide us with a few bursts of heat to compliment our blow heater. (after arriving home we can confirm that on our cars spec it is ticked) Ours was not in the usual control panel but up near the radio next to the a/c button. We managed to turn it on and all sounded ok but we only got roughly 5 mins of air that was not powerful or really hot. To our knowledge, we can only access this by having the keys in the ignition even though we were hooked up. Can anyone shine any light on this as it seems I can only see people who's aux heater is in the control panel?

TIA

You shouldn't need the key in the ignition as the aux (water) heater can be turned on either via the switch that you mentioned or by remote control. What colour was the indicator light (red = heater, blue = ventilation) and the 5 minutes could be because a departure time was set perhaps?
I am not being rude but check page 160 of the manual and it explains the heater control, work your way through that and it should make sense

Thank you for your reply. The light was amber and then red when it was on. Unfortunately we don’t have a manual and I cannot find anything on the water heater on the manual, only the air heater that is controlled by the control panel, if you have a link where I can find out more then I would be very grateful!

Tip: Download the manual and save it to your phone or tablet so you always have access when on site etc
